Jalapeño Peppers....A Miracle Happened In Greece!!
This blog is intended for Greeks and any other nationality living in Greece who loves Jalapeño Peppers.
Jalapeño is pronounced H a l a p e n i o or Χαλαπένιο στα Ελληνικά.
Please refer to my blog post dated Saturday July 16th 2011 "A Story About Peppers".
A miracle has happened in Greece. The Jalapeño pepper is now grown and sold fresh in Athens!! It is grown somewhere in Stamata (a suburb of Athens) as well as a couple of other places around Greece.
Greek Jalapeño peppers can be bought fresh from Alpha Beta Vassilopoulos super markets. Nowhere else... at least for the time being.
Unfortunately some are only very mildly hot and others will sting so before you take a bite test it first! The label however warns that their heat is from 8500 to 12000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units) mentioned in my Blog "A Story About Peppers".
All you Greeks and non Greeks living in Greece can now get one of the most important ingredients in Mexican/Tex-Mex cuisine.
I hope I was useful to you all.
Enjoy!
Stelio
