How To Cook Rice The Middle Eastern Way...
One last way I know how to cook rice is the Middle Eastern way
The water to rice ratio is always 1 cup rice to 1½ cups water with the required salt.
Method:
- Boil required quantity of water with herbs and spices you wish and set aside.
- In a separate saucepan big enough to hold the rice end product, add olive oil, or melt butter, or whichever other butter you like and add the rice.
- Stir fry on medium heat the rice to the desired color then add the boiling water.
Caution: When adding the boiling water to the equally hot rice there will be much splattering and boiling so be careful to add the water slowly not to burn yourself.
- Once you have added all the boiled water, cover tightly and lower heat to minimum possible.
- Set your time for 20 minutes.
This way the rice is tastier and you can continue to stir fry until the rice is brown then you can add your raisins, Once the rice is cooked, you can add the chopped nuts.
- In this case as well use the towel method to absorb all vapors to avoid over-cooking the rice.
Enjoy!!
