Lemongrass Tea
Live and learn!! That's what happened to me with lemongrass.....
after actually reading about it on the internet. Lemongrass is used in Thai food and Far Éastern cuisine mainly in soups and where there is a sauce. Lemon- grass, as the name says, has the taste of light lemon, citronella, and is very pleasant and soothing if infused in boiling water as a tea after a meal. It is easy to make lemongrass tea. Just follow the steps:
Ingredients:
Serves 4 cups
- 4-5 stalks of lemongrass.
- 5 cups of water.
Method:
- Wash lemongrass under the tap.
- Cut off the base, the ugly part and discard.
- Peel off one or two layers until you see a clean stalk. Discard the layers.
- Cut in 2 inch peaches.
- Using a meat pounder, crack each peace.
- Add to water in boiling pan and let infuse till you are ready to boil.
- Five minutes before you are ready to drink, such as after lunch or dinner (instead of coffee!) fire up and let the water boil.
- The resulting tea should be pale yellow in color not darker.
- When water boils add to tea-pot.
- Cover tea-pot with a tea-cosy.
