Tza-Tzi-Ki...Very Greek And Garlicky!
Tza-Tzi-Ki is a dish that goes with everything. It goes with beef, fish, chicken, lamb and cooked foods such as Moussaka, Briami, etc. It can also be used as a dip.
The only problem with Tza-Tzi-Ki is the garlic. It has to have garlic or else it is a pseudo Tzatziki. My sister in law makes it without garlic.
To make one you will need:
- 500 gms of Greek Yogurt.
- 1-2 cloves of fresh garlic mashed, squashed, crushed into a paste.
- 1 medium cucumber cut in half with the seeds scraped off with the tip of a small spoon and grated on the large holes of the grater.
Note: The reasons we take off the seeds are a) Some people do not digest the seeds. and b) to reduce the water in the tzatziki.
- 1/2 bunch of dill finely chopped.
Method:
- Mix all the above, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least half an hour then you can serve with anything.
Enjoy!
