Beef Meetballs with Spicy Cumin Tomato Sauce!
This recipe is typically Middle Eastern. Little meat balls with cumin over white rice and a salad on the side is a standard family meal.
You will need:
Serves 4
- 1 kg ground beef.
- 1 medium onion grated.
- 2 cloves of garlic crushed and finely chopped.
- 1 cup all purpose flour.
- Olive oil (prefer Greek extra virgin Kalamata Olive Oil).
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste.
- 1 cube beef bouillon dissolved in a little water.
- 1 Tbsp. freshly ground cumin.
- 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
- Salt to taste and freshly ground pepper.
Method:
- Mix well ground beef, onion, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper.
- Make little meat balls maximum 2 cm in diameter, and flour.
- When all the meat balls are done, pour enough olive oil to cover the bottom of a sauce pan with a cover. Heat.
- Add the meat balls in the oil, fry and brown on all sides.
- Add tomato paste, bouillon, salt, pepper, cumin and cayenne. Mix well.
- Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer till the sauce separates from the oil.
This dish can be as hot as you would like it to be. Be careful on the cumin, though, because it is very strong.
Serve with white rice and a green salad.
